Oscillate Wildly – Newtown

I use this blog as much as a photo album, so here’s another multi course dinner at Oscillate Wildly in Newtown, Sydney.  I avoided using the flash in this small restaurant, so apologies for the grainy footage – it’s mainly so I can remember the night 🙂

Oh no! I forgot to photograph the ‘custard apple’ course – with guava and cucumber. Deliciousness, I tell you – like and fluffy, crispy but sweet but neutralised by cucumber…

There were also some lovely truffles and jellies for having with coffees… mmm…

We went for matched wines – most of them were biodynamic or similarly untouched by chemicals and preservatives. Mostly whites, but still tasty!

This topped off one of the best days of my life – the day was my Harbour Bridge Climb:

    1. I did say to Facebook that it was one of the best days of my life – ticking off a bucket list item AND doing a fancy dinner (which you KNOW I love!) and giving a great birthday gift and experience for a fantastic friend, as well as some community work.

I'll do a short post about the bridge climb – not a lot of photos 🙁

  1. Looks like interesting food. Is that salsify? I remember a few years ago hearing of that for the first time when organising an event for work and ever since then it seems to be everywhere. It's quite popular here and the Germans, as they do, have a very straightforward name for it, Schwarzwurzel (schwarz = black, wurzel = root).
Delighted you finally got to do a bridge climb.

  2. Love that selfie, Sarah – you look so happy! Lovely to have photos to remember such a unique meal. Glad you enjoyed the Bridge Climb – would love to hear more, photos or not (I suspect your hands were full already just hanging on!)

    1. I was pretty happy!

Sadly we can't take anything up on the bridge – so the photo is the one I paid a song for. But thankfully in addition to getting a print out you get a digital copy which goes straight to Facebook (to of course help their brand too!)

  3. Mmmm. The food looks yummy. Love the hiding beef. Was it saying, "Eat the leaf. Eat the leaf!"

Love your selfie. You look so full of joy and loving life. What a beautiful smile!

I bought an Entertainment Book this year and plan to use it up at restaurants I wouldn't normally try. If only work wouldn't get in the way!

But Bridge Climb will never be on my bucket list.

    1. Hahahah we did eat the leaf – I sort of hoped it'd be salty (like seaweed leaves on sushi) but it wasn't.

I htink the entertainment book might help you find some places you'd otherwise never have tried. Seeing we live in the same city, if you find anything outstanding, please let me know!
