The spare room/guest room/study

I realised that I’ve not shared photos of the second bedroom in our home. I had a friend come to stay recently, so I got it extra tidy and spick and span, and took the opportunity for some photos.

And when I’m on holidays, what better way to get a quick post ready for you? We’re in Cairns for a few days, I’ll be sure to report back on my return!

Apologies for the photo quality. I must buy myself a camera, but I just can’t work out what I would buy if I did. So the iphone continues…

The study with the lamp on. I love lamps. It's my touch to the BF's desk.

My guest's daughter had missed the past birthday and Christmas gifts from me, so she was spoilt! They were all activities.

The apartment came with these shelves, so most mail sits on the bottom shelf, waiting for the filing time into the binders above.

  • Is that a cardboard deer head? haha The room looks welcoming and cozy. 🙂 I like how the bed seems to rest a little lower – I had one like that in college and I think it makes the room look more modern.

    • It certainly is a cardboard deer head. I also got one for my little brother, though his (whilst cardboard) came decorated with photos of the Bronx on it. There's a real fascination with boys and 'heads' to be mounted on the wall – there's a lot to buy out there?

It's an Ikea bed, and I do agree, it's even lower than the same style one I have – i think Ikea tweaks them a little ever now and then.

  • The guest room looks great! And I like lamps too – they are so cosy. Hope you're having a fantastic time in Cairns.

  • Hope you're having a fantastic time in Cairns! (and hope that the weather has died down a bit now?) The guest room looks so serene and orderly…a lovely place to stay!

    • The weather was lovely the first two days, with scattered rain the following three. Nothing cyclonic, just rain though.

I try to keep it orderly – rest assured with the wardrobe doors open (as they always seem to be), an unmade bed, and stuff on the desk, it can look lived in pretty quickly!

This is how I plan to use our second bedroom. Office / guest room. It gets the most natural light out of all the rooms in the apartment, so I hope I'll be extra productive there! Have a great time on your vacation!

    • It's a great use – office and bedroom, if you can manage it. The light in this room is lovely too, gets the morning sun.

The holiday was great, I'll try to get a post up soon! I must catch up on your move too!

  • I read "I love lamps" and all I could think was Anchorman, lol.

I love your restraint when decorating rooms. I wish I could get to that point.

  • What a nice relaxing room! And very functional, too. I have no idea where Cairns is (will look up) but I hope you're having a good stay!

  • When are you going to submit photos of your apartment to an Apartment Therapy tour?

While I was taking a sneaky lunch break looking at some Apartment Therapy porn, I thought how under represented teeny tiny Sydney apartments are! Here's one in London I thought you'd like, it is in your colours:

If you like, happy to come over one weekend to help spruce it up and take non-phone photos with a spiffy camera !

    • Hahaha… I've not really thought about it – but perhaps if I was to clean it super dooper-ly we could do it.

Oh and I'll be sans TV this weekend, so perhaps not :p That's a bit of a story in itself too.

  • Thanks – Cairns was so warm (almost too hot) – a darn sight different you in the Snowy Mountains
