    1. Thanks Fairy – I feel a little self conscious about all the selfies – it's a habit I 'caught' whilst travelling without my BF, so he gets to see me, as I'm well known for taking NO photos of myself when travelling. You're such a no nonsense blogger, I feel very vapid with this post.

  1. Can't wait to see what goodies you found at BR! 🙂 And weather-wise, a very different San Fran from when we visited! (though to be fair, we were only there 1 day.) We saw the sun for about a half hour. I've heard a lot about Powell's books – I'm guessing you enjoyed it?

    1. Gosh I feel like I was lucky to have such fine weather in SF. I know if it'd rained the whole time, it might have changed my perspective on the city, I find rain such a bother.

Powell's was amazing, and I loved the idea of integrating new and used together. I actually saw a book I wanted to buy at City Lights (a famous SF book store) and I didn't get it, so sought it out at Powell's, called Nickled and Dimed, which I devoured in such a short time, about (not) surviving on the minimum wage in the US.

      1. Yes! I've read Nickled and Dimed – I hesitate to say I "enjoyed" or "liked" it because it's kinda depressing, but it was well written and informative. Glad you were able to find a copy!

        1. I enjoyed the perspective I gained from it – I mean Aussies think everyone is on minimum wage and that's why we have to tip. Interestingly, Calafornians seem to earn a good wage, from the one discussion we had with someone. Well, it's relative.

    1. You know what? Only two 'new' items came from BR, but another one or two were bought in thrift stores that were BR branded! I tried harder to buy more, but nothing looked right!

I enjoy Alcatraz, lovely day, not too cold, and really what you'd 'expect' of a prison.

  2. Having read the food post first, I have to ask: are the selfies posted in order of eating all the food, if you get my drift?

    1. Yes, I did try to post the selfies in order of taking them – so did I pile it on that obviously? I did put on about 4kg whilst away, 2kg of which I've lost in the first week back.

  3. I love selfies! They're fun and unpretentious and often get a laugh, which is great. Looks like an amazing trip! My fave is the peeking-through-donuttery window!
