Electronic inventory

If it plugs in, it’s on this list (whether I bore you with a photo, is another matter!)  Oh and thieves, eat your heart out.  The TV and the VCR/DVD player were freebies, so I’m not too fussed if you take those.  My phones, well, they hardly work well, so I can’t imagine you getting a great price.  Washing machine and fridge – try sneaking those out past my building manager.  Basically, I am not too scared about ‘showing’ all these things off to the world wide web!

It’s really hard to share the cost of these items with you, and then work out the replacement cost.  It’s just so detailed!  My best estimates are:

What I spent: ~$3,000

What it’d cost to replace: ~$4,500 (man finding a comparable TV is hard, I don’t wanna UPgrade!)

Photos that are missing

  • Laptop (at the boyfriend’s, but it’s also a legacy of my mother’s former employer)
  • Other phone’s charger (cause really, you don’t need to see that!)
  • Oven & stove – not technically ‘mine’ but the place’s, so not costed
  • Fixed lights – which I did install, so I can cost, but it doesn’t seem right to include them here

And some ‘weirdness’ in the money amounts

  • If it was a gift, or ‘inherited’, I mark it as costing me $0, but full ticket in the replacement cost
  • Laptop not included in the totals as  I’m not sure if I would replace it if it died.  Which it might have.  🙁

A lot or a little?

  1. I hope it didn't die! My laptop has been on the fritz: first the battery went, so I had to have it plugged in constantly, and then the adapter got fried. So it's been inoperable for a bit, but since I have an iPad and desktop computer I'm holding off on buying a new battery/charger.

Your fridge is snazzy looking. I don't think you have too much – I probably have more, sans lamps. I only have one. But on my desk alone I have 2 monitors, a mouse, keyboard, external HD, computer, and a wax warmer thing. I have my TV and lamp in here along with aa fan, xbox, wii and cable box. I really like electronics, haha.

    1. The laptop is like a Phoenix, it has arisen from the flames (well not literally!)

I love lamps, it's a genetic disorder. I really try to limit all the computer stuff cause it can be distracting – and noisy! It's only because I'm always in an office that I don't have a printer/scanner etc.

      A wax warmer – now that's specialist!

  2. I don't think that's much – only one laptop, no network storage, only one TV, no video game systems, etc.! It's great that you have a tape deck – do you have any cassettes? 🙂

    1. No cassettes though I have one vhs! I've never thought to have a gaming console – they were outlawed in our childhood. My brother's (now) ex gave him a wii, and after an age of no use Mum sold it to her colleague for $50. My brother was indignant!

  3. I don't think that's much at all to kit out a full house/apartment! We have the exact same Microwave and TV as you and formerly had the exact same VCR/DVD player! We also have the same brand of iron and vacuum as you, but slightly different models. I need to write an ode to the Dyson in a separate post 😉

  4. Gee, you've done well from free cycle and thrift stores. I love the toaster. We eat a lot of toast and that "little bit more" is a brilliant idea.

I don't think you have too much electronic gear. But I think we tend to underestimate how much stuff will cost us to replace.

    1. Yeah I've done incredibly well with freebies and cheapo op shop stuff!

A little bit more would be a great feature if I used it hahaha

The figure came out higher than I thought, for sure! But it's good to know for insurance at least

    1. Well, yes. But… with recent relationship developments, that might be ok 🙂 I find my phone is enough, the laptop sucks me in and holds me tight!

          1. I agree, lamps make a room, but with only one room to live in 3 lamps are more than enough for any task I need. 25 isn't a bad number so much better than most households, you are doing well.
