For those who like to shop, or to snoop :p Here’s what I bought:
First up, something that’s been on my list for a long time (scouting the thrift shops, with little luck) Metal cup measures:
Then I didn’t really buy anything for the next six days, til we returned to Ho Chi Minh City and I saw an ad for Banana Republic. Oh my I love their clothes, and their aesthetic (when I was on their website sourcing better photos, I found countless more things I’d buy AND the cheap US prices made it OH so attractive!) Let me present:
Now for the professional photos!
I got sucked into the deal though! I picked the first four items, but was told if I spent over 7 million Vietnamese Dong, I would receive 30% immediately if I became a card member. I’d initially tried on the white top, but rejected it. After scouring the store and trying on a few more items, and debating belts and the like, I decided to return to the top I’d initially said ‘yes’ to, to get my discount. It brought the total down around (from memory) to 5.5 million, and then I still got VAT refunded at the airport!
Lastly, I’d seen these early on, and on reflection, thought one would work well in our house to put the coarse salt flakes in:
And some sandals, like for like replacement. Not as cheap as most things in Vietnam, but it was hard to find anything for size 41 feet, so it was worth the cost to me.
And there ends my adventure into consumerism in Vietnam. What was your favourite purchase of mine?
